WHAT IS A LIFESTYLE?
What is a lifestyle? What is a lifestyle, you say? That is a question that surprisingly many people cannot answer truthfully, clearly or accurately, some do not know exactly what it really means; so let’s take a stab at it: a normal person’s lifestyle is what is ever left after you subtract the factors of sleeping, working, commuting & things you have to do every day of your life that’s part of a rut! Therefore it can be stated that your lifestyle is what molds you into the person you are in the social circles and the finished product is presented to the world thus showing how you live, your style of life per se. You see; quite simple, quite straight forward.
Now, what is important is this: do you as a living being have a GOOD lifestyle? For this is what is really important at the end of the day. A good lifestyle means that your way of life is good, in everybody’s if not most peoples, eyes. I believe for anyone to know what a good lifestyle is we have to breakdown what IS a lifestyle. Let us break it down to attributes that can be followed and understood and again, let’s keep it as simple as possible for that’s usually the best way.
-
EATING: Now you must be saying “but I THOUGHT EATING COMES UNDER ‘THINGS YOU HAVE TO DO EVERYDAY’?! Well, that is true but you have to remember that we all have a ‘preference’ in what we eat; some prefer African, some eat French, some Hawaiian, so it isn’t classified as a rut, you know what I mean? Due to our preferences in the way we eat it does influence the way we think, if you believe it or not, therefore our socialising circles: who we like to eat with. For example, if you’re someone that likes to have an Indian curry in a restaurant you would be socialising with those that enjoys going out TO the restaurant to have the meal being opposed to those that prefer to buy a takeaway. This does not really determine who is a good person within the lifestyle element but what has to be understood here is particular things attract particular people to be in a particular way in a particular circumstance in a particular environment, its known as a habitat. Another factor that affects the foundation of this whole situation is how arrange what you are eating in the first place. Really and truly, in general, people who mainly eat fresh, natural foods eat with people of the same ilk so to keep up that way of life, while people that enjoy takeaways and processed food eat with their food-peers so not to feel bad about what they are eating. So, automatically, by the way you are eating this lifestyle aspect quickly defines your thinking manner, the people you hang with and what to eat; there, when it comes to eating this is your lifestyle; you would truthfully know if it’s good or bad, healthy or unhealthy.
-
RECREATION: As we know recreation is how we spend our time doing ‘fun’ stuff, right! In most cases we enjoy doing it with others e.g. participating in sports, playing chess, playing in a musical band thus cultivating a connection with the other participants therefore becoming your recreation-peers. One of the things that recreating does is that it’s the catalyst that opens the door to the connecting of the other lifestyles for by recreating it allows the other factors of lifestyles to manifest in a more accessible manner. An example can be through a group of potential strangers going bowling particular sets of people that wouldn’t really have the chance to meet would be more obliged to conversate in the given setting thus presenting their own ways of life to whomever they are conversating with. In this way, their lifestyles are compared and analysed unconsciously. By doing this a definition of a new lifestyle is brought forward then we make that decision and ask that question: is our lifestyle better than his/her one and is their lifestyle a good one and worth adopting???
-
THINKING & CONVERSATION: What is on your mind? Really, what is on your mind? To answer that is very simple: whatever comes out of your mouth (especially when you’re drunk!) This is the main reason why we have to be careful in whatever we say for we will be judged and viewed on that if we like it or not. The way you think affects the way you live, then it projects to those that live around you, then it allows them to have an idea of who you are, how you are and why you are, then you’ll affect their life positively or negatively. We have to put this in a realistic perspective: we as living beings really only talk to people we want to talk to, if we can avoid speaking to others that we’re not really fond of or have no real connection, we would, therefore we involuntarily create our group of friends that we hold close. By doing this we make up an internal colloquial base that only the people within this group are privy to. As this develops a way of thinking generates that is usually the cornerstone of all conversations. Altogether, if you’re not hip to the lingo, you’re excommunicated!
-
DRESSING: By your wears you as a person are visually broadcasting to the world your personality, state of mind, mood for the day, intentions towards the world, and many other additional under-current messages that are strategically interwoven into your get-up. Never underestimate the influences of clothing as it really speaks volumes about anyone, at any time, for it will attract or push away, make or break. Some people can tell what type of music you’re in to, what interests you when it comes to reading matter, what types of movies tickles your fancy, etc, etc, etc. A lot of people would not even conversate with you if they believe you support a different team or in a different religion; all these aspects can be told just by the wearing of particular garments. This is why things like uniforms are utilised for it automatically puts whoever wears them in a mind frame of a ‘belonging’, ‘relativity’ and to a degree, importance.
It can be stated that these are the main attributes that can classify what a lifestyle is made up of. So if you want to know what type of lifestyle your leading, by approaching these factors first, evaluate where you are when it comes to all these points. Truthfully delve into them and see if the lifestyle you are living is a good one. Part2 of this will be HOW TO DEFINE A GOOD LIFESTYLE…As T.O.P. always says when stepping off his private jet, “Until next time, NuffZed!”
